Very disappointing end to the series...

I was so excited to read this last set of books in the series. I try really hard not to start a series unless all of the books are already written because I am so impatient. I hate waiting to know how something ends. With that being said, I did it with this series. I got the first book of the first set for free, and liked it so much that I bought the entire first and second sets on Amazon and read them on my phone since Barnes and Noble doesn't have the entire sets as one book (boo, BTW)...then had to wait forever on the last set. I was so excited when it came out!
Imagine my complete and utter disappointment when the final set of books is almost completely about Abigail. I felt like I was reading an entirely new book/story. I wanted Sophie to come back to life. I 100% expected that Patrick would say whatever he needed to say to bring the vampire race back and that would somehow bring Sophie back or something. Instead, I spent the entire book watching Patrick die, Abigail get mistreated and confused, and being confused myself.
I thought I was going to get all of my questions answered, and instead ended up with more questions and few answers. Why Sophie? Why was her grandfather the one Patrick made the agreement with? What was special about her? I thought she was going to be of some ancient vampire race or SOMETHING! Also, what was special about Sophie's grandfather's land?? Why did Nimrod want it? And what the heck did Elizabeth (I think that was her name, the lady that the Tenderling attacked at the uncle's house), have to do with anything...other than the book of prophecy being in that house? What did her visions of Patrick chasing Sophie through her house mean and why did she have the visions? Maybe I'm just horrible at reading between the lines and need things spelled out for me. And the big secret, the only words whispered by Patrick in THREE BOOKS? It wasn't anything close to what I thought it would be...and then he wasn't even right! And Shelley's pivotal part in the story? UGH! And, could it have been any more depressing than EVERYONE with the exception of the new character, Abigail, dying? OK, I give you Sophie meets Patrick in the afterlife, but still...so disappointing.
I'm sorry to be so negative. I waited a month after finishing the book to write this review. I've never written a bad review before in my life. It makes me feel bad. lol I just really liked the story in the first two sets. It was so different to everything else I have read, and this had the potential to be a GREAT series. But it truly was like reading the first book in a new series instead of the last in the series I was reading. I guess the one positive I can say is that I never knew what was coming. If you like being totally shocked, then this is the series for you.

Great end to the series

I really enjoyed this series and set three tied up everything very well...although the character Abby Hart continues in a spin-off.
Certainly plenty of violence but not without reason and its psychological undercurrent was extremely well thought out, making the 'why' a vital part of the whole saga.
Well-honed characters fit beautifully into this complex plot and I loved the way it switched first-person narratives and times...a great way of getting into each character's mind and their development.
Yes, there were numerous typos and some other errors, however, the fast-paced easy style of writing makes (as usual with this author's work) this story a compelling read.
Highly recommended.

Awful Awful Awful!!

This book series was complete crap and a waste of time!! I read the first two and thought it was strange that a girl would somehow fall in love with a mute vampire. I thought I would continue and it would get better and everything would make sense by the time I read this one. So wrong! It became more confusing and stupid. I ended up skimming 3/4 of the book because it was just crap. I'm sorry Amy Cross, but I will never read another book written by you. You have no skills at story telling.
