Talkshows sind ein besonderer Fall der Interaktion – sie grenzen sich von spontanen Alltagsgesprächen ab und sind durch eine hohe Komplexität gekennzeichnet. Hinzu kommen der öffentliche Charakter durch die Ausstrahlung im Fernsehen und die besonderen Rahmenbedingungen einer Fernsehproduktion.
Im Zentrum steht die Frage, wie sich die Teilnehmer politischer Talkshows verhalten. Die Talkshows ANNE WILL, hartaberfair und Maybrit ILLNER werden mit einer Inhaltsanalyse untersucht. Mithilfe der Untersuchungsergebnisse lässt sich ein charakteristisches Bild der Interaktion in politischen Talkshows zeichnen.
Die Arbeit gliedert sich in insgesamt sechs Teile. Nach der Einleitung (Kapitel 1) folgt zunächst eine theoretische Betrachtung von Interaktion und Kommunikation (Kapitel 2). Kapitel 3 behandelt politische Talkshows als Beispiel für Interaktionsprozesse und enthält einen kurzen Abriss der historischen Entwicklung des Genres. Hier wird auch der Untersuchungsgegenstand mit relevanten Fragen und Thesen vorgestellt. Nach der Erläuterung der Inhaltsanalyse in Kapitel 4 folgt der empirische Teil (Kapitel 5), der die Auswertung der untersuchten Sendungen beinhaltet und in welchem die Fragestellung anhand der Betrachtung einzelner Kategorien beantwortet wird. Ein Fazit (Kapitel 6) rundet die Arbeit ab.
Insgesamt zeigt sich, dass sich die Formate in vielerlei Hinsicht ähnlich sind. Der Moderator ist der zentrale Akteur der Talkshow-Interaktion. Er greift häufig in die Diskussion ein. Dabei ist die Ausrichtung der Redebeiträge mehrheitlich weder offensiv noch defensiv, und auch andere Kategorien wie die Haltung oder der Grundtenor der Äußerungen lassen nicht unbedingt darauf schließen, dass das Verhalten der Interaktionsteilnehmer besonders streitlustig ist. Ein klarer Unterschied zwischen eher „harten“ (politischen) und eher „weichen“ (gesellschaftlichen) Diskussionsthemen wird ebenfalls deutlich. Nicht zuletzt spielt die Zusammensetzung der Talkrunde (Politiker/andere Gäste) eine Rolle bei der Interaktion.
